Project365 156: White Zinfadel

This wraps on my second week of 'three'. Hope you enjoyed the redux.

P.S. I do think it is fine to put ice in your wine - especially on a hot day.
P.S.S. reposted to correct the day number in the title.

Project365 155: A Lamp unto my Feet

I did this shot with both shallow depth of field and a deep version which had all three lamps in focus. I liked this one better.

Project365 154: Three Bikes

I am a day late posting, so won't write a lot about today's image. I had a lot to choose from but ultimately went with this one because Barb liked it best.

Project365 153: White Stone on Blue

This Hindu temple is located east of the 427 in Toronto. It is the largest Mandir in Canada. The intricate stone work is all hand carved.

Project365 152: Three by Three

Any guess as to what this is?

It is the reflection of one buildings windows on another across the street. To me it almost looks like pages of text.My wife actually preferred another image but I went with this one because of its abstractness.

Project365 151: Three Cubes

Those of you who are paying attention will realize I am repeating myself. I messed up on my notes and when I decided to do 'Three Things' as a theme for this week, I didn't realize I had already done it as the beginning of this month. As I started looking for subjects it dawned on me that I had already done it. Since I have already started it, I'll finish our the week.

I really like the way the contrasts in tones popped out in the black and white.

Project365 150: Taxi Taxi Taxi

Toronto is a big film production city. It is not unusual to see props that make it look like some other city, like New York. These taxis were one of several sets delivered to this set.

Speaking of sets, that is my theme for the week - sets of three. Putting a set of three things together in a composition makes for a stronger image than those two or four.

Project365 135: Yellow, Yellow, Yellow

The last day for 'three'. As I have found for every week so far, the daily task of finding 'the' image for the day means a constant exercise in looking for a good idea and a good composition. Some days work out better than others. I can't say that I was all that thrilled with 'Three on the Tree', I much prefer these spring blossoms. I should have tried a circular polarizer in both cases. I am not so sure what it would have done in yesterdays fog, but it would have cut down on the glare on these flowers and made the colours more intesnse.

Project365 134: Three on the Tree

My wife and I attended the Spring Festival at Tommy Thompson Park today. I'll post some of my better images for the trip later, but for now here is my 'three themed' image for the day.

Project365 132: Three Fingers

People ask me what I am learning from Project 365. Today's image is a good example. This is not the first time I have tried to capture this art work and Front and York. The last time I tried I used a longer lens and shot from across the street. Although the image itself was 'ok', it lacked depth and because of the distance and angle it contained too much junk. I studied the previous image and decided that I want to be close with a shorter focal length and to shoot up at it. That is what I did and I am much happier with the result.

Project365 130: Three and Three

I choose a Black and white treatment because I felt that the lack of colour emphasized the repetition more.

Project365 129: Gold and Blue Cows

This week's theme is Three. The lead of image is this set of three bronze cows. Two of them are in deep shade and so appear to be blue compared to the one in the late afternoon sun. I would have preferred if the tree trunk were not in the image but I couldn't find a composition that would work. A shorter lens wold have done the trick - but I didn't have one with me.
