In many places dance often accompanies music. Today, a señorita wearing a beautiful yellow dress dances to a mariachi band.

Not the sharpest of shots, but the place was very dark. ISO3200 helped get a useable shutter speed but not quite fast enough.

I worked from home today so another visit to the Jazz Festival wasn't practical. I was aware that there were Thursday night concerts in Unionville, so I popped by to see what was up. I was surprised to discover the guest artist tonight was Danny Marks! I often listen to his blues radio show on 91.1.

Project365 180: Chris Donnelly at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival

Today's lunchtime artist was Chris Donnelly who gave an excellent solo piano concert. I was most intrigued by his metamorphosis composition, in part because of the inspiration from the M. C. Escher art work by the same name.

Project365 178: The George Grosman Trio (plus one)

I have long been a fan of Jazz music, and since this week is the 2011 TD Toronto Jazz Festival that makes ofr a natural choice for this week's theme - music. The George Grosman Trio was playing at Metro Hall today.   Mark Dunn was on bass and Dave MacDougall was on drums. There was also a guest percussionist, but I didn't catch his name (sorry).

This music was great, and George is a very expressive player which make for fun photos.

Project365 084: Erhu instead of iPad2

 I originally thought today would be images of people at the Eaton Centre lined up waiting for the iPad2 to go on sale. There were indeed a lot of people, but rather I picked this image of an old man playing a Chinese Erhu at the south exit of the Eaton Centre. The wind was blowing cold, so I thought this Cyanotype-look a suitable treatment. The frame gives it a somewhat frosted look too, yes?
