53weeks 196 of 371: Bog Monster [Architecture 7/7]

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.
And if you gaze long enough into an abyss,
the abyss will gaze back into you.
Friedrich Nietzsche

53Weeks 194 of 371: Hockey Hall of Fame [Architecture 5/7]

“Moderator: You feel you’ve been hustled in a pool room. . . . Are there any other things that relate photographically that are not necessarily other photographs? By this I mean, do you ever get ideas—not ideas—is your education ever expanded by an interest in something else other than photography?

Winogrand: I would think so. A heck of a lot. Reading and music and painting and sculpture and other stuff. Basketball, baseball, hockey, etc. Certainly, you know, you can always learn from some—from somebody else’s—from some intelligence. I think. I hope.”

53Weeks 193 of 371: Vaulted [Architecture 4/7]

Any general statement is like a check drawn on a bank.
Its value depends on what is there to meet it.

This is the main hall of the old Canada Permanent Building. I think the interior is fabulous.

Music, in performance, is a type of sculpture.
The air in the performance is sculpted into something.
Frank Zappa

Things got a little crazy last week and I fell behind in my posting. Time to catch up.

53Weeks 191 of 371: Immaculate [architecture 2/7]

This building is of interest to me as it has a modern feel to it, but it also somewhat retro.

One of my constraints this week was to handle all B&W conversions via Lightroom. Why - because I want to get better at that. I find that I still can't get the results I really want. This image is feeling really flat to me and I was unable to get the pop out of it I envisioned. Work continues.
