We had a big lighting storm roll through tonight so I tried to catch some lighting strikes. Out of several hundred pictures five caught a strike and two turned out well.
My technique was pretty simple. Camera on tripod. Manual exposure set to somewhat underexposed. Manual focus set at the trees. My shutter time was set to 1.6 seconds. Turn on live view (which minimizes mirror movement) and then lock down the shutter button on a cable release. Go have a cup of tea and come back when the memory card is full!
