One of my favourite sites in the spring is spreads of wild Phlox by the side of the road (at least I think it is called phlox). Deep pink mixed in with white.

Red diagonals and Yellow spheres, green background and red foreground, sharpness and blur. So many different contrasts.

I had hoped to find some more abstract concepts of blossom, but actual flower blossoms is the best I could do! The joy is in the journey.

Project365 220: Yellow

Trying to get a sharp shot of a bee on a hot day can require a lot of patience. This worked fairly well, but would have liked a bit more sharpness in the wings. Stopping down to f/8 would have helped, of course, but I also wanted the shallow DoF.

Project365 221: Looking at the Cosmos - Two Variations

This week's theme is 'Blossoms'; it carries on nicely from yesterday's bridal bouquet. This is a Cosmos. They are a really easy target and perhaps a little too cliche?

To break out of the standard Cosmos image, I tried this variation which is strongly backlit. Focusing was a little challenging as I wanted my retinas left in tact when done. Rather than using the viewfinder, I used live view, but it was still a challenge to see.
