53weeks 231 of 371 : Airborne

I find some very interesting views from the airplane window. A completly different view of the landscape. This was taken shortly after take-off from Denver. (and yes I did ask for permission to use my digital camera).

This wraps up my week of 'Colorado' images. We very much enjoyed our time there and hope that people are recovering from the flooding which occurred shortly after we left. I would recommend a summer vacation in Colorado to anybody who enjoys the great outdoors and fantastic scenery.

On our way back to Denver we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park. Highly recommended. These sheep came very close to while on the trail.

53weeks 229 of 371 : For the Young'uns

All along the way to Steamboat Springs we saw these yellow signs at the side of the road advertising FM Light and Sons. They advertized boots and hats and pants, etc. So we had to check it out. This display of boots was just for the little kids.

53weeks 228 of 371 : Fish Creek Falls

The hike to Fish Creek Falls is about as rigorous as the Rabbit Ear Trail, but we started early and took our time. We ate our lunch at the falls and then chilled there for a time before heading back. I kept meyself busy taking pictures and Barb read her book.

53weeks 227 of 371 : Mountain side

A gourmet hike was our main activity for today. We took the gondola up the side of Mt. Werner. A guide took us for a light hike and told about the flora and fauna, and also of the town and its history. We then had a lovely lunch that was the gourmet part of the package.

 After lunch we set out on our own to explore more of what we saw in the morning. We got back to the top of the gondola just as the warning horn for the last trip down sounded.

Later we went and soaked in the natural hot springs.

53weeks 226 of 371 : At the Garden

We stayed in Steamboat Springs for our week in Colorado. A nice little tourist town. In the downtown area there is a botanical garden. A nice place for a walk, or in this case a buzz.

53weeks 225 of 371 : End of Our River Run

Our adventure for today was to travel down the Colorado river in a white water raft. Our river guide said it was class 2 plus. (I think they add the plus so that their patrons think they lived more dangerously. There was one spot where I thought we might tip. We did stop a one point and I jumped off a cliff. (After years off being told to go do so!)
