Lilac Buds

A Canon 500D macro filter in combination with a 20mm extension tube was used to get up close and personal with these buds. The frosted sugar character is something we probably have all missed when looking at these for normal distance.

I often forget to use a circular polarizer for images like this, it would have help to gut down on some of the reflections on the surface of the buds. I also should have used a tripod and stopped down to f/16 or so. Some of the out-of-focus buds would have been sharper that way. Someday I'll learn.  Nonetheless, I love the pastel tones in the background.
