Pick a Font

Changing fonts in MS Word is pretty easy. But 150 years ago, changing the font was a lot more difficult. That was because you had to use a complete different set of type that was stored in these cases (featured in this image). It meant starting all over. I think that would have meant that a master printer of that era was a lot more deliberate about their font choices before they began.

I often hear the same idea about photographers who use large format cameras. They are large and always need to be used on a tripod. It would take most people several minutes to set-up a large format camera. A large format photogrpaher benefits from carefully considering the image compostion before they even touch their gear. These days we can whip out our DLSR and snap off a hundred images in the same amount of time. We don't have to put much thought into it. Maybe we should.
